Six years ago John Cardinal O'Connor passed into eternal life. I met Cardinal O'Connor a few years before his death. I was honored to be able to speak with such a highly respected Church leader. We had a very nice, but too brief conversation in which he encouraged my vocation.
Whispers in the Loggia has a beautiful tribute to Cardinal O'Connor by someone who I would consider a true friend. It is definately worth reading.
